    Pleasant View School started a pen pal program to connect students with community seniors during the pandemic. The program was created by teacher Shampa Mannan. She set the program up to help students and the elderly feel better during this trying time. "People going through sudden changes and being quarantined can go through many types of emotions and become very stressed especially the elderly, young children and those who live alone," Mannan said.     High schoolers created advocacy groups to work with community partners and discuss various issues in the city.     Pleasant View School students display artwork on website created by art teacher Nida Mujahid. With virtual courses, Mujahid wanted to connect with her students while social distancing.     National History Day is an annual contest where students around the world to conduct historical research on a topic of their choice. Students enter these projects at the local and affiliate levels, with top students advancing to the National Contest at the University of Maryland at College Park.     Every week, Pleasant View School hosts a virtual Dhuhur Khatera session with students and their families. Before the pandemic, PVS had khatiras everyday after Dhuhur prayer, so to adapt to the current situation the khatiras are now provided virtually.     Pleasant View School student created a tutoring group for high schoolers to help elementary and middle school students. Muadth Malley thought it would be helpful to provide tutoring to students when classes transitioned to the online format.     PVS science classes engage students online

    Pleasant View School science classes are back in session with students working from home and teacher Farhana Chowdhury working hard to help them excel. AP College Board provided a concise syllabus so the AP Chemistry class is reviewing the curriculum. The curriculum was completed before the spring break, and as planned before the class will be reviewed unit by unit.     Islamic Studies start online classes and discuss Surah Fatihah

    Pleasant View School fourth and fifth-grade Islamic Studies classes began working online with teacher Ashir Kirk. Students met with Kirk via Zoom for a live session on Monday. The 50 students discussed how to handle the quarantine from an Islamic perspective. “So far, the classes are pretty good,” Kirk said.
